The leaves are falling down and with reds, yellows, browns, and oranges it's the perfect time of the year to dig through the bookshelf and find some classic leaf books to read and share as part of your weekly themed book club for toddlers and preschoolers.

Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert Featured Book for the Virtual Book Club for kids

With fantastic illustrations that combine natural objects and watercolor, this book is always a firm favorite with toddlers and preschoolers. In Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert the life of a Maple tree is explained including in the glossary at the end some scientific terms and explanations including photosynthesis and the role of roots in a tree.

Autumn Leaf Prints with Potatoes

Find some long and thin potatoes and chopped them in half. Carve out the stem and three little veins on each side of it to create your own leaf stamp.

Give your little one some paint and a brush and let them get to it.
